Jack relocated to New York to practice immigration law, carrying little more than a suitcase and a conviction that work carrying someone's future demanded exceptional diligence. After working through more than 1,000 immigration matters, one pattern became increasingly difficult to overlook. The industry wasn't short on intelligence. It had become overwhelmingly tolerant of compromise.

Around that same time, we met. I'd worked with startups, scaling brands, and marketing teams inside a multi-billion-dollar corporation. Different companies. Different industries. The same pattern. The organizations that stood out weren't the ones with the smartest people. They were the ones that refused to let excellence become negotiable. When Jack told me what he was seeing inside immigration law, I already knew exactly what he meant.

Six months after meeting, we were married. The day after returning from our honeymoon, we both resigned. By then, one thing had become increasingly clear.
